Junior Boys GAA Blitz
On Wednesday last, our Junior Boys team took part in a GAA blitz at Tyrellstown Park.
The weather was far from ideal with swirling winds and a constant drizzle making both the pitch and ball quite slippery, however, the boys took all of this in their stride.
Right from the off in their opening game, their attitude was excellent. A tight first half against Tyrellstown ETNS left nothing between the teams at half time. However, with the wind in our favour in the second half, constant pressure on the Tyrellstown goal eventually brought some late scores. The win was capped off with a powerfully taken goal from Tyler.
Game two proved to be our toughest game of the day but again the lads applied themselves excellently. Some super defending in the early stages meant Gaeilscoil an Chuilinn had great difficulty in getting scores and the boys came out with a well-deserved draw.
Our third game of the day was a wonderful display of skill and determination from both teams. St. Luke’s were our opposition on this occasion and played their part in an excellent game. Some super hand-passing and gritty defending were the key to success in this game. The boys dispossessed the St. Luke’s forwards on numerous occasions and demonstrated excellent teamwork to create scores. Two well taken points towards the end from Zack proved the icing on the cake!
The final game brought with it even trickier weather conditions. As the wind picked up and the drizzle became heavier, the boys maintained their excellent attitude and rounded off a wonderful day with a hard fought win against Powerstown ETNS. The final whistle in this game rounded off an excellent day all round for the lads. A first outing playing GAA for many of the boys but it most certainly won’t be the last!
Well done boys, you were excellent representatives for the school.
