Canine Therapy Assistance Dogs Visit ππΆ
Today, as part of our Take Care Tuesday, we were so lucky to have a visit from some beautiful, special dogs and their amazing handlers and volunteers from Canine Therapy Ireland.
Canine Therapy Ireland is a disability-lead organisation established to train psychiatric assistance dogs for partnerships with individuals living with chronic mental health challenges and providing canine assisted therapies for mental health services. Lou and her team taught us about the importance of not distracting service dogs when they have their “working vests” on and we picked up lots of tips about reading canine body language.
The best part-anyone who wanted to rub the dogs got to do so and some even got cuddles with these amazing creatures. What a fantastic day. Thank you Team Oráiste for spreading the word about your important work and giving us all a most memorable school day ππΌ
