October Updates

Principal’s Office

The Principal Mary O' Riordan and Deputy Principal Laura Mulligan are taking some parental leave this year. There will always be one of them in the office and available to speak to and/or meet with parents/guardians. You are always welcome and please never hesitate to contact us should the need arise.

New website and App

We hope you like our new school website http://stpatrickscorduff.ie/. It is a work in progress but will detail a lot of information you may require throughout the year. We would ask if you haven’t already done so, to download the new app iclassCms to your phones. As soon as all parents have downloaded this app and registered on it, we can send you notifications from the school that will replace text messages.

Child Safe-Guarding

Currently the Designated Liaison Person (DLP) is Ms. O' Riordan and the Deputy Designated Liaison Person (DDLP) is Ms. Mulligan. All teachers are mandated, in accordance to the Children’s First Act.

New School Building

Our new school building is due to commence in February 2020

Security/Safety

Collections: All visitors to the school must report to the office. If children are being collected early for an appointment or due to illness please ensure that the appointments/early leave book is signed. If your child is late, they must enter the school through the office.

Bikes

Where children are cycling to school they should wear a cycle helmet. All bikes and scooters should be locked at the bike/scooter shed. Once children enter the yard, they must disembark their bikes/scooters.

Pets

We also remind you that pets are welcome to wait at the school gate but should not be on the yard.

Uniforms

Children are welcome to wear their tracksuit everyday if they wish. All clothing items should be clearly labelled.

Payments

We can now accept card payments at the office. If you need help organising payment for books, please contact Aideen or the Principal.

Contact details

It is vital that we have up-to-date contact details on our emergency contact forms. If there has been a change of phone number or address for parents/guardians or emergency contact people, please inform the school. Similarly, if any new medical conditions have arisen please notify us as soon as possible.

After-school clubs

After school groups will be set up by the mid-term break. We expect to have an art, cookery and lego club as well as a few more.

Parent involvement

We are always looking for extra help. If you would like to help out with reading, working in the kitchen or library or have any talents that you would like to offer, please contact Suzanne or the Principal.

Parent Association

We always welcome new members. If you are interested in joining please contact Suzanne. The first meeting for new members will be held this month - date to be confirmed. Please come along and get involved!

Mobile phones

Please visit webwise.ie for parent information on cyber issues and phone apps.

Smart watches should not be worn in school.

We operate a strict policy on phones. If required, phones should be turned off in school and remain in school-bags. Parents should write a note to the class teacher to explain the need for a phone in the bag.

Policies

Our Code of behaviour is available on the school website, along with other important policies.
