A brief history of our school

St. Patrick’s Senior National School, Corduff, came into existence on November 1st 1978. Mr. Sean Cousins was its first principal. In 1993 Mr. Sean Cousins retired and Mr. Michael Shanley was appointed principal. In 2011 Mr. Shanley retired and Ms. Mary O'Riordan was appointed principal.

In 1978, the Senior School building was still under construction and classes were located in the Junior School. As classrooms were finished in the Senior School building, classes were moved over during the first six months of 1979. The school reached its peak in terms of student numbers in September 1983, when there were 568 pupils.

Currently, there are approximately 240 pupils enrolled in St. Patrick's SNS. There are also 20 teachers, 4 Special Needs Assistants, a secretary and a caretaker working in the school.

We are eagerly awaiting a new school building which is expected to start very shortly. With the building of the new school, we will see the Senior School joined onto the Junior School nearby.
